POOR THINGS
Concept Project
Roles: Creative and Art Direction, Illustrator, Designer
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The goal of this project was to create a teaser key art for Poor Things capable of capturing the singular vision of the world proposed by the film and, in particular, the radically unique perspective of its protagonist. The intention was to construct an image that conveyed the clash between innocence and discovery, offering a visual interpretation that resonated with the film’s eccentric, emotional, and deeply imaginative tone. The challenge consisted in condensing this universe into a piece that would function as a conceptual preview, evocative and immediately understandable.
THE CONCEPT
Bella, the protagonist, captivated me with her childlike gaze and her way of seeing and experiencing the world. Eyes as large as her desire to discover everything around her. A child’s mind trapped in a woman’s body. That is what this image seeks to represent: her own mind, the place where little Bella lives. From there she emerges, stepping out of a luminous portal filled with pastel colors, surrendering to life and confronting both the wonder and the injustice of this world. In the background, the viewer feels both observed and complicit in her intense gaze—penetrating yet innocent. The outside world is in black and white, while her inner world, full of color, longs to know, feel, and understand.
