LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND
Concept Project
Roles: Creative and Art Direction, Illustrator, Designer
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The goal of the project was to develop a teaser key art for the film Leave The World Behind, capable of condensing the essence of its premise into a single image: the lack of communication, uncertainty, and confusion experienced by the characters. The piece needed to function as an intriguing, powerful, and immediately readable visual preview, raising questions without revealing the plot. The challenge consisted of distilling the film’s central message into a clear and memorable graphic concept that would spark curiosity and connect with the unsettling tone of the story.
THE CONCEPT
For this, I used an image as iconic and recognizable as the Statue of Liberty, since the story takes place in New York, where wide shots of different locations in the city appear throughout the film. Its inhabitants completely lose connection and contact, leading to great confusion and panic. We are connected beings, and technology is part of our daily lives. I wanted to directly and simply, with a provocative touch, represent this loss of connection with the world by having the statue replace its torch with a mobile phone and raise it toward the sky in search of a Wi-Fi signal.
