Concept Project

ABOUT THE PROJECT
This personal poster is inspired by the film Gaua, directed by Paul Urkijo.
The aim was to visually explore some of the symbolic and narrative elements that shape its magical universe.
THE CONCEPT
I chose to center the image on a witch figure associated with an animal, in this case a rabbit, which appears several times in the film. The distinctive mark in the eye and the expression shared by both the witch and the animal create an unsettling image that felt especially representative of the dark and supernatural tone of the story. In these kinds of tales and legends, animals often act as carriers of meaning and as symbolic extensions of the characters.
The face appears in the foreground confronting the viewer directly. A central line divides the composition into two halves, suggesting the coexistence of two worlds: day and night, two fundamental realities within the story. Above the figure, the witch’s hands rise and, as if they were ears or an extension of the animal itself, manipulate and transform the space, evoking the idea of ritual and witchcraft under the light of the moon.
Around the main figure, fragments of text inspired by the film are integrated to reinforce the magical and narrative imagery of the scene.

An example showing how the design could work on a magazine cover.

Various symbolic elements such as mandrake, belladonna, thorn apple, the eguzkilore flower, the moon, the sun and fire appear incorporated as graphic resources that build the visual atmosphere and accompany the reading of the image.
