THE GAZING
Concept Project
Roles: Creative and Art Direction, Illustrator, Designer
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The challenge was to create the cover of The Gazing, a suspense novel. It had to depict a very specific moment: witnessing something in the wrong place, creating ambiguity for the viewer as to whether the figure is guilty or a victim.
THE CONCEPT
An image in which portrait and light are the main protagonists. The presence, gesture, and atmosphere of the face awaken a subtle unease and a curiosity that invites us to look beyond. The observer asks questions and begins to imagine what is happening in that moment. A discreet setting was chosen, so that the face and the light would be the ones to weave the story in our mind, giving rise to multiple interpretations, as many as there are observers.
An example showing how the design could work on a book cover.
