NACRE

Concept Project

Roles: Creative and Art Direction, Illustrator, Designer

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The objective was to create an image of a symbolic nature that would represent the transformation of pain into beauty. The challenge consisted of translating a biological process, the formation of nacre, into a symbolic and human scene.
The piece starts from a simple idea: in nature, nacre is not produced in order to be beautiful, but as a defense against a wound. Layer upon layer, the damage is covered until it becomes a luminous surface. That natural logic is transferred here to the body.

THE CONCEPT

The protagonist appears in profile, absorbed, without seeking the viewer’s gaze. The wound is present, but not as a loss, rather as an origin. From her hand springs a luminous substance. Her veins do not bleed: they shine. The atmosphere reinforces the idea of silent transformation. Nothing is violent, nothing is immediate. The change happens inwardly.

An example showing how the design could work on a magazine cover.
