REPTILE

Concept Project

Roles: Creative and Art Direction, Illustrator, Designer

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The goal of the project was to develop a poster for the film Reptile that offered an alternative interpretation to the official release, providing a more conceptual perspective focused on the film’s underlying themes. The intention was to capture the atmosphere of suspicion, deception, and tension that runs through the story, creating a piece capable of communicating—both symbolically and directly—what lies beneath the surface. The challenge consisted of finding a visual concept that carried real weight within the narrative, something that complemented and expanded on what the official posters did not show, resulting in an image that was more suggestive, unsettling, and rich in meaning.

THE CONCEPT

For the creation of this poster, I aimed for a simple, direct approach with a very clear concept: concealment; nothing is as it seems. I used the image of snake skin that appears in the film and reinforces its title, placing it as a blindfold over the protagonist’s eyes as he tries to solve a case and uncover truths in an environment completely shrouded in lies. The protagonist attempts to move from darkness toward a brighter place, but his eyes and reason do not allow him to reach clarity. The intense red background supports the image, giving it a dramatic and striking impact.
